In our Catholic Tradition, the Sacrament of Baptism is described as the door of the spiritual life. The Catechism of the Catholic Church describes baptism as the gateway to life in the Spirit. Precisely at the moment of our Baptism, we receive the Holy Spirit and so an infusion of supernatural grace takes place in our soul. Remember, the Holy Spirit is the giver of life (spiritual life) as we proclaim in the Nicene Creed every Sunday at Mass. Additionally, this spiritual life that is gifted to us through the Sacrament of Baptism brings us into the family of God, our Holy Catholic Church.
Given the divine privilege and necessity of Baptism to our salvation, it is no wonder that parents have the grave responsibility and immense honor to ensure their children are baptized as infants. However, if for whatever reason you or someone you know have not been baptized, we strongly invite you to join our O.C.I.A program to prepare you to encounter the profound love God has for you in the Sacrament of Baptism and in our Holy Catholic Church.
