The Saint William Community is invited to join us for a farewell gathering for Deacon Michael Forbes immediately following the 5 pm Saturday Vigil Mass.
About Deacon Michael
Deacon Michael Forbes and his wife, Barbara, came to Saint William in 2005, after relocating to Texas from New York. The Forbes family grew very close to the parishioners of Saint William, especially after attending Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP). Their younger sons, Sam, and Max received their sacraments here. The boys attended Holy Family Catholic School and graduated from St. Dominic Savio Catholic High School.
With the blessing and support of Fathers Joel McNeil and Dean Wilhelm, former Pastors, Michael discerned a call to the diaconate. He was ordained to the Sacred Order of Deacon for the Diocese of Austin in April 2013. After several years of working in the diocesan tribunal, Bishop Vásquez invited Deacon Michael to study and earn degrees in canon law and bioethics.
Most recently, with the support of Bishop Vásquez, and the blessing of our Pastor, Fr. Francisco Rodriguez III, Deacon Michael’s ministry has been as vice chancellor of the Diocese of Austin, director of diaconal ministry and judge in the tribunal.
With a heart heavy for bidding goodbye to their beloved St. William parish community, the Forbes family will leave Round Rock for Granger, Indiana, to take care of family.
