Baptism and Catechumen Congrats! Congratulations to our newly baptized brothers and sisters, who recently completed their journey as Catechumens (unbaptized persons who desire to be fully incorporated into the Catholic Church through the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist)!
Typically, the process is one to three years of preparation. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (#1248) says that their formation aims at bringing their conversion and faith to maturity, in response to the divine initiative and in union with an ecclesial community. Basically, they are to understand what it is to be a Catholic Christian and begin to live their faith as a response to God’s invitation to join His Family, the Church. Here at St. William, we had 31 Catechumens this year who were fully initiated into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil by receiving Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist.
We want to welcome them and assure them of our prayers as they make the Church their home. God bless you newly baptized, congratulations, and welcome home!
